Can you imagine living in a world where there's no water for everyone and is a luxury?
This is the world our characters Angel, Lucy and Maria live in. They don't know each other, but the fate make their worlds collide and have to "work" together. They will be allies in a world where everyone is searching for the richness of water.
This is a war for water and subsistence, not a pretty world, just fear to survive one more day.

"Everything died. Places were blown away, or drowned or burned, and it just kept happening. The equilibrium of the world was shifting. Whole cities were losing their balance as the grown they'd takes for bedrock shifted beneath them and knocked them right on their collective asses.
Maybe it would just keep happening.
Maybe it would never end.
So why run? If the whole world was burning, why not face it with a beer in your hand, unafraid?"

I would like to think that the world the writer Paolo Bacigalupi share with us is completely impossible, but sadly is not the first book I have read what it would be a world where water is a luxury. If you don't have the most needed thing to live, what will you do to survive?
This is how Angel, a water knife, making special jobs for Catherine Case starts investigating his friends death. The bullets start to flow in all directions and it seems that the only help he will have is the journalist Lucy Monroe. She is trying to uncover all the bodies she has seen, knowing that maybe it will be the last thing she makes in her life...
Maria is a survivor, just wants to be free and have a life, but sadly she crosses paths with Angel and Lucy...!
This is a frightening book, not just for the inhumane things our characters live, but how the world has become a race against the clock to have the "water".
With dark humour and cruel jokes we are immersed in a world where a glass of water can cost our life. What is more precious in life, gold or water?
